The evergreen shrubs, characterized by smooth, red bark and stiff twisting branches. Manzanita is extremely useful as ornamental plants in western United States and other similar climate zones.
Manzanita wood can be used for mounting orchids, bases for carvings, re-sawn as inlay material, perches for birds, reptiles, terrarium and aquarium or used as slabs for desk sets and clock bases.
No two pieces are alike and its is popular for their unique shape, size and color to work with.
Sunlight smooth and bleaches the Manzanita to light gray or white, rendering it superficially akin to animal bones. Manzanita is safe, not toxic hard wood.
